”Try a new style” was the challenge. Admittedly this is more of an old style, I’d spend all my time drawing as a kid, quite a lot of that time was spent in the building shown in this piece.

I rarely draw, so I thought the challenge would be a great excuse to pick up a pen.

Growing up, we had a shed or outbuilding. In attempt to keep the house tidy, my parents told me to play in there and that’s where all my toys were stored. Over the years it became the place I’d spend all my time, escaping the weather, boredom and occasionally other people.

Today, it’s still much the same, many of my toys, games and books gathering dust amidst the spiders, barbecue and other general junk. It’s the one place in the world where I can still go and get transported back to my childhood.

I used a tablet, referencing a photograph, drew in photoshop and coloured. It took ages, which is one of the reasons I don’t draw very much any more. Most of my designs I like to complete in one or two sessions, where as this took about two weeks to complete. I really enjoyed it, and it was time well spent.

Some of the process is shown to the right with some alternative versions.
