Jack of Stripes

Although this was for a music video competition, I wanted to do a few and the white stripes tend to do decent videos. The idea came from Jack, being Jack White, and obviously a playing card too. Worked in a few things from the videos and added a few song references in also. Was chuffed how this came out, though it did take a while to do faces that looked like them, but cards at the same time.

Addicted to blood

“This music video ranked at number 3 on VH1’s Top 20 Videos of the 1980s and was both the first and last video shown on long running UK music programme The Chart Show”. I was a kid when it came out, and as such, when I heard the phrase “vampish women” I misunderstood. Though not my taste in music, the video is a bit of a classic. This was my Threadless sub, which took bloody ages and got a shitty score.

It’s been a while

hurleynewHello, I’ve been busy doing Threadless stuff, but thought it wise to make an update or two.

Here’s something I did last year when I was thinking about doing my own Lost inspired art. Can’t believe it’s coming to an end. My Mum really liked Lost, so it’s really sad she’s not around to enjoy the final season and the answers.

Hello, I’ve been busy doing Threadless stuff, but thought it wise to make an update or two.

Here’s something I did last year when I was thinking about doing my own Lost inspired art. Can’t believe it’s coming to an end. My Mum really liked Lost, so it’s really sad she’s not around to enjoy the final season and the answers.

I’m talking to myself at night…

Threadless have another competition on at the moment. Do a design based on your favourite video. I think you can enter three designs, but I have loads of favourite video, so many that I just can’t think of what to do. This was my immediate thought, because I like the video to seven nation army. Simple thinking really, the song’s off Elephant, the beat it relentless like a marching elephant’s footsteps, and it features the line “because I can’t forget” elephants never forget. Paired this with red, black and white, and the zooming triangle. Aparently Jack White is obsessed with the number three.

I submitted this yesterday, and hopefully it’ll get accepted and do ok. I hope no one has copied it, as I added it as a critique ages ago and people looked at the page, but no one commented or scored it. Will update this with voting page when I have it.

Natural Grooves

natgroonewHad this simple idea when I saw a record, and it reminded me of a piece of tree.

Not much to say about it reall, though it does have a few days left on voting, so if you happen to find yourself on Threadless, give it a decent score please! Click here.

Somewhere…

newwizThreadless runs competitions as well as the regular submit your ideas and they get voted for and maybe printed. I think I blogged about it on my Samba post, which only lasted five minutes, though I still really like it.

I wanted to produce a design based around some famous shoes. What more famous than the ruby slippers in the Wizard of Oz. This time it’s the ruby flip flops! Using a sparkly red plastic on the flip flip strap and glitter ink on the red of the tee shirt. Who’s wearing them on the tee shirt? Maybe it’s the Wicked Witch of the East.

Scored 1.90, took ages to draw.

Busy busy busy

walrusnewWell, instead of keeping things going on this page, I’ve been going bonkers on submissions to Threadless! It’s funny really, this time last year I had hardly heard of Threadless, but now it’s my most visited site and my main ambition to get something printed. There are some great things which don’t get printed on there, so I’m just going to have to keep thinking and plugging away.

The Walrus didn’t go down fantastically in the end. I got 601 votes, with an average of 1.87. It took bloody ages so disappointing not to score higher. Anywa I decided last weekend to redraw it, recolour it and re present it.

I’m not getting many hits on this site, but just incase someone accidentally comes here in the next few days, please vote here.

Say Cheese

poleriod-newThreadless have loads of special effects and I wanted to do a design utilising one of them. Then I found an old Polaroid camera in Dad’s attic.

Here is what came out of it. Remember if you vote and I will, I’ll get you a Cream Egg!

Hot and Hairy

new-chewieTwo new designs up for scoring on Threadless. I hope one of these gets printed, otherwise my holiday isn’t going to happen this year!

Anyway vote if you can please for this one here

UPDATE

Well, this didn’t get enough votes, so it’s down to the Polaroid. I told my friend about Threadless last night, and he dismayed at the stuff that does get chosen over the stuff that gets rejected.

Chicks who dig Star Wars

fettnewUPDATE: It’s been accepted, please vote for me here. A friend of mine reminded me of this fact recently, so I decided to submit another design to threadless, that would be a girls skinny tee. Not overtly feminine, but I think they’re pretty cool. Based on the look of Jango and Boba Fett’s armour, but with a soccer jersey style number on the back. Not sure if it’s going to gets elected to be one that people vote for, but I like them anyway. Click here to have a butchers.

“Hello there, and it’s a beauuuuuutiful morning”

bazsamnewI love Bond films. I don’t know if it’s a British think, but pretty much every bank holiday at least one channel will be showing a Bond Movie. I think the villains and henchmen used to be better though. I’d love them to remake Live and Let Die with Daniel Craig – I don’t think that’s far away to be honest. I think they’ve pretty much exhausted Ian Fleming’s original stories, and enough time has passed for them to give it a go, after all Casino Royale was a remake of sorts. So, this is the second in an occasional series. It never got through as a t-shirt design, but it was never intended to be a t-shirt, so I shouldn’t complain.
